Hello, stranger…
When your eyes land on a complete stranger on the train, and the world around you stops.
When the stranger says hello, and your heart stops, too.
When the universe answers your prayers and he’s there, next day, on the train. A man so powerful – brooding with darkness and secrets.
I knew there was going to be more. I wanted more.
When the stranger is reading one of your favourite novels, and you’re reading one of his.
When you’re in such a flutter that you drop your treasured bookmark, and the stranger returns it next day.
When you think the universe can’t be any kinder, but it truly delivers the jackpot of all jackpots and two opposite worlds collide, as though it was meant to be.
Only it could never be so easy, could it?
Goodbye stranger…
Hello, Dr Hall.
When fate turns to love,
And love turns to pain,
Hope is the saviour,
To live through the rain.

Uhh, Kylie, I never said it sucked, I said I hated it even though she's an excellent writer. You have to read to the final page to grasp just how horrific the ending actually is. Spoiler alert: guy has cancer as a kid, beats it, has cancer as a young man and loses a kidney but beats it, cares for his dying mother who slowly succumbs to (yep you guessed it) cancer, then meets the love of his life only when his chronic lymphocytic leukemia has returned, which finally kills him. So apparently they get 6 years together and she has to watch the love of her life wither and die. That's not a romance, that's sadism in freaking prose form. It's not unreasonable to expect a less grindingly awful ending given that all the other titles from this author are HEA, and it's a general staple of the genre. We read these books for escapism and hope, not to be walloped over the head repeatedly with brutal reality. Constructive suggestion: she could have left it open-ended. Yes, he's dealing with a terminal diagnosis, but 5 years later they're still making each day count. That's bleak, but it's not bloody awful. Anyway, you liked it, I hated it. That's called a difference of opinion.

She's an excellent writer, but I hated this book. It has a heartbreaking ending and it made me cry for a week. I suffer with depression and this isn't what I need in a romance novel. Life's sad enough, surely. Geez.

If you read the blurb and the comments you should have realized what you were reading. What part of 'love turning into pain' says HEA for you? I understand suffering with depression is horrible, but geez dude, its not that hard to quit reading a book. Sad books aren't horrible. Just because it's not your taste doesn't mean it sucks. You could always turn away from a book or quit in the middle if you despise it that much.
