Finally, I can review this book! You won't find the complete novel HERE, but instead, you can find it on Kindle Unlimited...with all of the correct chapters, and in the RIGHT order! Falling for a Forsaken Marquess was about Lord William Sculthorpe III, Marquess of Hampton, and Miss Agnes Humphries, the eldest daughter of Lord and Lady Trafalgar, the Baron and Baroness Humphries. Having been betrayed by the woman he loved and his brother several years earlier, William had determined to never trust another woman with his heart again. So when his mother started pushing him to start looking for a wife, William was quite resistant. However, the duchess kept pressuring him to consider getting married to the point that the Marquess finally snapped and told her that she should choose his wife for him and he would accept her decision. His mother, taking him at his word, immediately got to work and hired a matchmaker to assist her in finding William a suitable bride. Agnes had also been unlucky in love in the past. The man she had thought to marry ended up rejecting her when he realized that her family did not have as much money as he had first thought. That left her nearing spinsterhood until one day when her 17-year-old sister told her she was in love and wanted to marry. No matter how hard she tried to convince her baby sister to wait a year, the girl was determined to marry. So Agnes went to her parents and told them SHE was ready to marry in order to help provide a sufficient dowry for her sister when it was time. Her mother got right to work and hired a matchmaker the same one that William's mother was using). The matchmaker paired William and Agnes together. At their first meeting, Agnes was so nervous she tended to babble inanities and do so a little too loudly, which irritated William quite a bit. William's brother, Jacob, who had only just returned from a four-year-absence, used his charm on Agnes, also irritating William. Both brothers vied for her attention, which caused her a tremendous amount of confusion. Also thrown into the mix was Agnes' arch-rival, who had been paired with a local earl. However, when she and her mother learned that Agnes had been matched with the Marquess, they plotted together (along with Jacob) to split the two up and allow the enemy to step in and take William away from Agnes. The more time they spent together, the more they started to like each other...and eventually, fall in love. However, neither one ever said the words, mainly because of William's brother and Agnes' enemy were always interfering with their lives. It finally reached the point where William walked away, and both Phoebe and Jacob told Agnes so many lies that she gave up all hope and started her journey home. When William's mother confronted him about his supposed rejection of Agnes and that she was going home, he rushed out to stop her before she got too far away. While he finally convinced her of his feelings, and that he did want to court her, that wasn't the end of their troubles. Jacob showed up at Agnes' home and caused more problems. Thankfully, William wasn't far away. This story had a boatload of angst, drama, and a touch of heartache. There really wasn't much spice to the book either, and hardly any chemistry between the two main characters. There weren't any fade-to-black or steamy scenes. There was hardly any kissing that I can recall either. In fact, it was quite tame compared to most novellas. The book also had humor, laughter, joy, and comradery that made the story that much more enjoyable. The twists and turns weren't too bad, but just enough to keep the reader on the edge of their seat in anticipation of what lay in the next chapter. The characters needed a bit of tweaking and maturing. Some of them were definitely not well-developed enough to be considered grown up enough to be an adult. Other side characters were quite supportive. It was nice to see that the parents from both sides were likable and loving, quite unlike most historical romance novels...Hell, unlike even most contemporary novels. It was enjoyable to read about GOOD families...with an exception or two. Even Agnes' sister was adorable, and that's unusual. While there were things about the book that needed editing, for the most part, it was well-written. The storyline had a fluidity to it that made it easy to read. It did have some fluff n stuff that could have been omitted, and some grammatical errors. But other than that, it was a good book. Not five-star worthy, but it definitely earned a four-star rating.

Do NOT waste your time trying to read this book. It does NOT have an ending as it repeats chapters 13-18 and does NOT end AT ALL. It cuts off in either the beginning or middle of Chapter 18 without finishing.
