The Devil of Davenport is in need of a bride. Everyone knows the wicked earl is looking to wed, but only his childhood friend, Anne, knows his secret. Despite what society believes, he’s not a devil—not really. Not at all. Of course, he’s no saint either. He’s a man. One she hopes will solve all her family’s financial woes by marrying her eldest sister, the only sibling not tainted by scandal.

But the earl has other plans. While Anne’s sister is the safe choice, she’s not the one who makes his pulse race. There’s only one who can tame his wicked ways, but choosing Anne will thrust her into the type of scandal she’s tried so hard to avoid. Can a devil like him ever win an angel?

Earl of Davenport, the 8th book in the Wicked Earls' Club series, was about Lord Frederick William Belford, the Earl of Davenport (also known as the Devil of Davenport), and Anne Cleveland, one of the illegitimate children of her father, and whose family was on the brink of financial ruin thanks to their brother's obsessive gambling and drinking habits. Anne approached the Earl with the offer to marry Anne's oldest sister in exchange for saving the family's fortune. Davenport told her he would think about it, but then days later turned up at their home with the offer to marry her...not her sister. Realizing she had no choice, she accepted the offer and they left immediately for Gretna Green for a quick marriage over the anvil. As the story progressed, although a very quick one, there were moments of intense angst and drama, there was also a good deal of chemistry, passion, and humor as well. I enjoyed how quickly these two bonded. It made for a very sweet, touching love story. Plus, it gave the book the necessary qualifications to be included with the other Keeper for the Shelves books.
