Destroying My Ex, Book 3 of The Ex series, was about 23-year-old Grayson Carter and 23-year-old Lily Devon-Sinclair.

Grayson grew up with Lacey Sinclair from the age of 4. They had been best friends since kindergarten and made a natural gravitation toward dating when they were 14. However, when they were 16, Grayson received an anonymous video message that showed Lacey cheating on him. When he tried to break things off with her, she "promised" that he would not do so. He quickly learned from his father that she was correct because, not only had her father threatened his dad, but both his parents turned that threat on him, saying that they would disown him and force him to move out if he did not get back with Lacey. So, Grayson caved, temporarily. The parents did not know that he quietly planned how to turn things back around to his benefit in the end.

Unknown to Grayson, Lily was the older, half-sister to Lacey. Her father had married her mother, but he had a mistress who turned out to be Lacey's mother, Janice. When Lily's mother learned of the affair, she divorced him, and his parents refused to accept the mistress or his second daughter into their lives. While growing up, the half-sister and stepmother made Lily's life a living nightmare for most of her childhood. When she reached the age of 14-15, she reported to her mother about all the abuse she received at the hands of her father's second family, and Lily's mother managed to get the courts to modify custody so that she didn't have to spend all that much time with them in the end.

It wasn't until the three of them had started college that Grayson met Lily. Since her grades weren't up to the same level as his, Lacey had to attend a college almost 3 hours away from the one he got into...which happened to be the one that Lily was also attending.

Since they had several classes together, Grayson and Lily met three weeks after school started, and their mutual connection was brought to light. At that point, the two of them realized they both wanted to avenge themselves of those who had hurt and used them so badly. That was the beginning of their secret five-year relationship and plot to bring down the horrible culprits.

This book may have been short, but it was a rollercoaster ride of sweet revenge that was served to those who deserved it the most, and it was done in such a way that made the comeuppance epic. Sure the story had some spiciness and romance, but everything honestly revolved around the revenge plot, and it was tastefully done.

Both the main characters were fully developed and mature, even for their young age at the beginning of the book. While they had plenty of room for growth (and they did grow), it was even more enjoyable to read about how diabolical these two were in creating their ideas for revenge. I could almost see this in a made-for-television movie, it was that good.

I gave this story a five-star rating just for the simple fact that everyone who deserved some form of comeuppance got it...in spades. This had everything I ever wanted when I read a book based on revenge.
