Jason Miller’s life has been tilted on its axis, and then kicked to the curb for good measure. To say things haven’t gone his way would be an understatement, but eventually something has to work out for him. That’s what he’s hoping when he gives a cute bartender his number. He isn’t looking for more than someone outside of his teammates to spend time with, but Hope may give him a little more than he’s expecting.

Hope Nacin sees a lot between working nights as a bartender and days in her family’s bakery, but there’s no one quite like the man who shows up a few times a week at the bar. There’s something about him that makes her want to protect him, even though she knows nothing about him. When he makes it clear he wants to get to know her a little better, Hope isn’t sure what to think.

Should she take a chance on trying to patch up the wounded hockey player’s heart? Or will his past come back to haunt them both?
