Graduating from college is exciting, except for the part where you have to go back home.
I had it all planned out–I’d take the long, cross-country route so it would be a whole week before I have to face the inevitable.
Then home decided to come to me.
My mom remarried unbeknownst to me and her new husband says he’s flying all the way out here to drive back with me, because he’s concerned for my safety.
With every night we spend together on this trip, I begin to wonder if maybe that ring on his finger should match one on mine instead.

Deceitful Dreams, Book 1 of the Immoral Starts series, was about 34-year-old Wyatt and 22-year-old Sophie

Sophie just graduated from college and was packing her apartment to return to her mother's home. Unknown to her, Sophie's mother had recently married, and her new stepfather was unwilling to let her make the drive on her own, so he flew to her location and drove her back. Neither of them was prepared for what the other looked like. Wyat, like Sophie, had only recently learned of her existence, and they were instantly attracted to each other, even though they each struggled to contain it.

These two couldn't keep their hands off each other, so on the third night of the road trip, they took things to the ultimate outcome, and the next day, Wyatt told Sophie he was going to "f*ck you so hard the next few days that you'll be thankful we are driving...". When they reached their final destination, Sophie's mother jumped into Wyatt's arms and kissed him.

This entire story was just a bit convoluted and had a touch of the "ick" to it without actually being "icky" if that makes sense. There was too much left unfinished, and even more left unspoken. It was as if the reader had been watching a movie that had no rhyme or reason, no plot, no true storyline...and that the film snapped in two before it reached the ultimate conclusion. It was a verbal dangling participle if there ever was one.

The two main characters needed to be a bit more developed, and they needed more time to show some sort of growth, none of which happened before the book just shut off in the middle of an idea. Imagine Jeff Dunham's Peanut character with his mouth hanging open and a dumbfounded look on his face...and no words coming from his mouth. That is how the book left this particular reader feeling.

I only gave the book a two-star rating because it really didn't earn anything higher.
