Daddy's Angel, Book 1 of the Forbidden Reads series, was about Tyler Phillips and Lexi (I couldn't find her last name anywhere), a burlesque singer, and Tyler's son's girlfriend. This wasn't the usual insta-love type of story. First, it was 44 chapters long, it spanned nearly a year's worth of time, and it was more emotional and plot-heavy than any other I've read in the past. There were things in this book you don't normally find in a "daddy-kink" book. However, I won't give away all the spoilers in my review. Tyler and Lexi met for the first time when his son brought her to his birthday party. They both had an instant attraction to the other, but neither made a move on it until six months later, and only after Lexi and Jason had broken up due to his cheating on her. However, even Lexi admitted that his cheating was just one of the reasons their relationship had gone south. They had been having trouble for a long time before that. After they had split up, Tyler and Lexi finally acted on their feelings and secretly started seeing each other. But there was one fly in the ointment. Jason changed his mind and wanted her back, even though she kept telling him no, and that it was over for good. Tyler, knowing that Jason wanted Lexi back and that she had refused him, tried to convince his son to move on without revealing his own relationship with her. Jason then began stalking Lexi and even went so far as to get violent and break into her apartment one night...when he learned of the relationship between her and his dad. An argument ensued and he made to punch Lexi in the face. Instead, Tyler punched him, breaking his nose. When Tyler got home, his son walked into the house unannounced and uninvited and began blackmailing his father. He had some video footage of Tyler and Lexi having a spicy moment in the garage. He told his dad that if he didn't break off the relationship he would show the video to Tyler's family, coworkers, the media, and anyone else who would be interested, thus destroying the reputation of both his dad and Lexi. Although he didn't succeed in using the video to break them up, something else did. Tyler, who was going through a tremendous amount of distress and guilt, took it all out on Lexi and pushed her away. After a few weeks, he tried to fix things between them, but Lexi said it was the wrong time and for the wrong reasons, but that when things were better, she'd still be waiting if he wanted to try again later. This story had a lot of angst, OTT drama, and heartache. It was suspenseful, and it had moments that were frightening as well. The emotional rollercoaster ride was as heartwrenching as it could be, taking the reader around one twist and turn after another until they were emotionally wrung out. The characters were well-written and fully fleshed out. They each had their moments of "WTF were you thinking", but not so much that it hurt their character. The growth of the two MCs was phenomenal to read because they didn't do the "betraying body syndrome" crap, and they didn't yield and forgive the other too quickly. The author allowed them both time to heal from the mistakes they had made and the issues they each had to deal with. There was a lot of fluff n stuff that could have been left out, and the story droned on for longer than necessary so that detracted from the level of interest it had. While it was entertaining, it could have ended a good 15-20 chapters sooner and still have been a decent book. As stated previously, it was different than most insta-love stories, and I have to give it props for where the author took the storyline. Because of that, I decided to give this book a 3.5-star rating rounded up to four because it actually earned it.

i liked that it isnt the usual annoying daddy dom shit. however, its still corny asf and gets pretty boring and stale after the first part. also a weird amount of repeated phrases
I was surprised with this one! Not your usual Daddy dom storyline but there was an actual story behind it. Sexual from start to finish so liked it
