With one look he consumed me.
With one touch he marked me.
With one kiss he owned me.
With one whisper he claimed me.

“No matter where you go or who you’re with, you’ll always be mine.”

Ellie Stevens thought she had moved on from the domineering man who abducted her. Now living in Hawaii and following her dreams, no one is going to keep her down. But things aren’t always as they seem.

Kayne Rivers reluctantly let Ellie go, but just because she’s gone now, doesn’t mean she’ll be gone forever. She is his, and he won’t stop until he’s reclaimed her as his own.

I read this book fully aware that this a dark novel, and I really liked Ellie's and Kayne's realationship. However, the rape scene towards the end of the book, was too much for me. Ellie had already been through so much. Sexual assault from Javier and all the shit Kayne put her through. And just as she was begining to heal, she is raped by Michael. This is something that would break a person no matter how 'strong" they are supposed to be. I have also read "Ruined" which concludes the relationship and gives Ellie the happy ending she deserves but I still believe that even though the author treated the subject with some respect, describing how it took Ellie about a year to get over it, with Kayne's help, it feels wrong. Moreover, it feels rushed, given it only takes place towards the very last chapters of the book, not giving it the importance such an issue actually deserves. There is nothing "mild abuse" in a rape scene, it feels like it was used just to make this book "dark" and it totally messed with whole vibe of this book .
