Our fortress crumbled around us and I found myself in the hands of the cruelest man I’d ever known, the man who could turn my prince into a pauper with a snap of his fingers. And when the time came for my prince to protect me, he handed me over to the enemy as if I was worthless.
I had faith in the man I’d come to love over the weeks I spent uncovering the fortress he kept around his heart. I waited, patient as ever, for him to come to me and take us somewhere we could finally be safe.
Except he didn’t.
