Ellie
Lincoln Alexander might think he’s too old for me, but he’s wrong. A fourteen-year age gap is nothing when you’re desperate to feel alive again.
The wealthy business owner has only ever seen me as off limits, but he has the power to put me back together—to chase away my demons with just his touch.
So, for one intense night, without him knowing who I am, I put my trust and pleasure in his hands.
My plan is to walk away, ready to move forward with my life, but when the doctor tells me that I’m pregnant, I find myself taking two steps back.

Lincoln
One night isn’t enough with the masked, green-eyed woman who walked into my club and turned my world upside down.
After I gave her what she wanted, again and again, she walked away without a trace.
When I finally discover the identity of the mysterious beauty who stole my heart on Valentine’s Day—and the secret she’s been keeping—my heart stops.
Ellie Bardot is all grown up, but I remember the innocent girl she was, even if she doesn’t. I hate that she lied to me, almost as much as I hate that I still want her.
Now I’m torn between being the man she needs me to be and doing the right thing.

TW: Mention of past rape. There was quite a bit of talking about it, in a way that helped the FMC work through what she had endured.

A Risk Worth Taking, Book 2 of the Falling In Love duet, was about 36-year-old Lincoln Alexander, co-owner of the Wanderlust Gentlemen's Club, and 22-year-old Eliza "Ellie" Bardot, a college graduate and the sister-in-law to Lincoln's brother.

The first chapter of the book was the introduction to the story, while the next two chapters were flashbacks that were pretty much to bring the reader up to how things went down from Ellie's POV rather than her sister's from the first book.

Lincoln and Ellie had known each other since she was 14 (he was 28). Lincoln had been Ellie's sister's boss at the gentlemen's club until she met and married his brother. When Ellie's life fell apart within months of her sister and Lincoln's brother meeting and marrying, she started to withdraw from her family and friends, although no one knew why. It wasn't until she was almost 22 that everyone found out what happened to change her so drastically.

This story was a great way to end the duet. It had a ton of angst, drama, and even spice. There was intrigue, danger, heartache, passion, fear, and even a smidgeon of humor. The rollercoaster was full of twists and turns that kept the reader not only glued to the pages but sitting on the edge of their seat, waiting for the other shoe to drop. And boy did it drop! While there were hints along the way as to how the plot was going to turn out, they were subtle enough to not give away the ending too fast. The reader had to be quicksmart to deduce the outcome completely.

Both main characters were well-developed, mature, and had ample room for growth. The supporting characters, both from Book 1 as well as any new characters created for this story were well-written and did not detract from the story, but rather they enhanced it.

While there were some minor errors in this story, they were few and far between, allowing the book to obtain a five-star rating and hold on to it from beginning to end. This book will also join its predecessor in my Keeper for the Shelves collection.
