After one epic night of failure in the bedroom, Picari warrior Wyst Manrd and the human female, Pam Swain avoided one another as best they could. That was until they became teammates and were ordered to follow Rykhan and Leah to South Dakota in order to provide the newly mated couple both protection and assistance with the upcoming birth of their half-human, half-Picari child.

Just as it always did when Pam and Wyst did anything together, their valiant journey soon turned into a comedy of errors. One that found them stuck in a tiny town in eastern Wyoming with a broken car, low on cash and followed by an angry crew of aliens determined to capture Pam and execute the treasonous Protectorate warrior.

Then there was the small matter of the matching metal tattoo Pam had grown and desperately kept hidden from her traveling companion since it named her as Wyst’s one true mate. Something she knew couldn’t be true, despite the searing sexual attraction between them.
