Before moving on to the next book, the author suggests (and I agree 😁) that you read the Unexpected series (Unexpected, Unconventional and Untouched). It will introduce characters that pop up later in this series. It's not necessary (I didn't) but it does mean that there isn't as big of a time jump. Otherwise it feels like it skips ahead and there are characters that just kind of appear.
