The Virgin’s Shock Baby, Book 34 of the One Night With Consequences series, was about Megan Whittaker, the oldest daughter of Lloyd Whittaker, the owner, and CEO of Whittaker Enterprises, and Dario De Rossi, owner, and CEO of the De Rossi Corp. Megan learned from her father that Dario would be escorting her to a ball, she was also asked by him to find out if Dario had plans to take over Witaker Enterprises, even go so far as to seduce him. Since she had spent more time working her way up in her father's company, Megan had spent no time building a personal life...to the point of still being a virgin. Dario, already aware of what her father was planning on doing, wanted to see if Megan was as devious as her father, or as innocent as he believed her to be. When he realized that his desire for her was equal to the desire she felt for him, he could not resist taking her back to his place and giving them both what they wanted. The next morning, all hell broke loose when her dad messaged her with some hateful texts. When Dario went to see Megan later that morning, he arrived just in time for Megan's sister, Katie, to come flying out of the elevator, demanding the receptionist call the police and an ambulance. She grabbed his arm and pulled him back to the elevators, telling him in a terror-stricken voice that their father was going to kill her and that it was Dario's fault, and that he needed to save her. Megan woke up from a drug-induced coma four days after the assault will no memory of what had happened. While she did recall her night with Dario and everything before that, she had somehow blocked what her father had done. Dario, doing his best to see that the man paid for his crimes, determined it would be necessary to leave the country until Megan's father appeared before a judge. Having to leave her sister behind in case she was needed for questioning, Dario took Megan to Italy. This was a well-written storyline that was filled with plenty of twists and turns, drama, and angst to keep the reader glued to the pages. The emotions that filled this book were plentiful and touched the heart deeply. The rage, anger, hatred, and villainy were unexpected and heart-wrenching, but the gentleness that was shown by Dario for Megan was touching. The passion and chemistry between them were hot. The only thing missing was a touch of humor, which would have eased some of the tension through the difficult moments that were spread throughout the novel. The characters were well-developed, mature, and as close to real-life as an author could get. They both had integrity, even though it was sometimes hidden. The only issue with the book was that the author didn't answer all the questions that arose, didn't bring certain situations closure, and that was hard to take. She caught the attention of the reader but didn't supply the answers to questions about what the outcome was of certain situations. For me, that brought the rating down from five-star to a four-star rating. However, it was a very good story and deserved to be included in the Keeper for the Shelves collection.
