After inheriting Kapria’s throne, Maximilian’s only objective was to erase his father’s corrupt legacy–a task that might have been impossible if a dying billionaire hadn’t given Maximilian his fortune…and his daughter, Victoria. Twelve years later, Maximilian has finally secured his kingdom’s future, and he’s ready to claim his bride–even if his advisors insist that she’s a horrible choice.

They aren’t the only ones who need persuading. Because after waiting for so long, finally marrying Maximilian should have been a dream come true for Victoria. Instead she’s caught in a nightmare of duty and obligation, betrothed to a king who pretends to love her in front of the cameras. She always wanted to be the perfect bride…but when she’s not fantasizing about Maximilian’s big hands, she’s dreaming about running away.

But Maximilian will never let Victoria escape him. Because the king isn’t pretending, and he’s waited long enough to claim his queen…

I share the sentiments posted below; this was sad and hard to get into the romance. She was forgotten, ignored, pretty much lived her life in some kind of purgatory of constant waiting. Then when he decides he wants her, she has to snap to and fall into his life and what he wants immediately. I would have liked to see him woo and win her after she spent years in some ghost existence of just being there.

She loves him. He ignores her. He finds out more about her. She's more hurt. He apologizes. She forgives. They have sex. They marry. Sex scene was hard to get into when the relationship didn't seem believable (her seen as mate and breeder more than a partner)

Disappointing because I felt her hurt. Years of nothing and no response and one apology, she forgives him. No intentional fault yet one that doesn't deserve instant forgiveness. Because she doesn't know the king and he obviously has much more to learn about her. 2/5

5/5 my favourite of the King's bride series! Stumbled upon this from the author of the King's innocent bride and I must admit this is much better! Highly recommended
