Ginny Davis has risen through the ranks downstairs at Starcross Castle, from maid to lady’s maid for Lady Mariah deVere. But as grand as her new position is, the one thing she wants the most feels out of her grasp. Her heart belongs to head stableman Harry Pond, but she’s convinced that she’s already ruined her chances with Harry by being too bold too soon. So when mine surveyor Stephen Adler takes a shine to her and offers her the adventure of a lifetime, her heart is torn.
Harry has loved Ginny from the moment he met her, but he believes that her ambition and hunger for adventure mean she will never look on him as more than a bit of fun. He’d do anything to convince her to marry him…and when Adler swoops in, anything is what he just might have to do.

Starcross Lovers, Book 1.5 of The Silver Foxes of Westminster series (and Book 1 of Starcross Castle), was about Miss Ginny Davis, lady’s maid for Lady Mariah deVere, the Countess of Dunsford, and Mr. Harry Pond, head stablemaster for Starcross Castle. Ginny, having served in many positions at the Starcross Castle, had risen to the highest rank she could reach: that of lady's maid to the Countess. Though she enjoyed her newest position, her heart yearned for more...namely Harry Pond, with she had long been in love. However, he didn't seem to return her feelings and she feared her advances might have been too brazen for him. Harry had been in love with Ginny since the first moment he saw her. But he knew he had nothing o offer her other than home and love, for he knew she longed to travel...and all he wanted was someone to love and live with in Cornwall. When another man started showing interest in Ginny, and she in him, Harry thought all was lost and that Ginny would leave with the other man to enjoy the adventures she said she had always longed for. The angst and drama in this book were higher than they needed to be, but that was due to the actions of the two main characters rather than over-achievement attempts on the part of the author. The passion, though spars, was definitely hot when in evidence. There was a touch of humor but not much. The hurt, uncertainty, and fear, though present, were also the making of the two main characters as they both chose to keep things from each other. The storyline was okay, though it happened fast and really didn't give much backstory or time to build into a better novel. Still, it was a five-star worthy book and will be added to the Keeper for the Shelves collection.
