Jacky Leon isn’t someone who goes looking for trouble. She owns a bar, pays her taxes, and serves her drinks cold outside a small town in Texas. The fact that she’s a werecat is just something she’s had to live with. Alone in her territory, she’s lived a secretive life for six years: under the radar, avoiding her past and the baggage that comes with it.

Trouble finds Jacky, though, in the form of an eleven year old girl and a werewolf turf war just outside her borders. Forced to honor an ancient treaty and the Laws of the supernatural world, Jacky swears an oath to protect Carey Everson, the human daughter of a local werewolf Alpha from Dallas.

When his enemies come after Jacky and her charge, she’s going to have to embrace the more dangerous side of who and what she is. She’s going to have to challenge the very Laws that govern her kind.

And nothing is going to stop her from honoring her word.

While i liked the series there we're some problems in it. Firstly it was waaaay to long. It could have been easily a trilogy. As if the author just couldn't give it a closure and continued to milk it. Secondly many things were predictable. Thirdly there was a classical "protagonist is just amazing" syndrome that has to be saved by all and everyone either just adores her or wants to kill her, no in between. People would switch from hate to love in a matter of pages or the opposite. Spoiler: A man who has spend centuries hating and killing her kind, suddenly is best buddies after an episode. Her best friend tries to murder her because she didn't tell her who her father was, even though her friend liked her father etc ... You're either good/bad or her family

It was an excellent book. I didn’t expect it to be this good. The story was absolutely amazing. The characters were fantastic. It was very original. It was full of adventure and suspense. I am glad I decided to read it.
