A mysterious man saves her life but can he save her heart?

Lady Eleanor McIntyre has been forgotten by society, unloved and left to ruin by her father. But just when she is at her lowest, she crosses paths with a mysterious man who saves her life. It is like a miracle but even more shocking is that he needs her help to find his lost sister.

Lord Matthew Evans, the Duke of Pennington, has an excellent reason for hiding his title from the lovely Ella. The only woman he had ever loved cared far more about his position than she ever did the man. Ella is too beautiful to be trusted with the knowledge he is a duke. But the longer he knows her, the more he wishes he hadn’t deceived her. Because as pure as her heart is, she could surely never love a man who lied about his identity.

My Duke’s Deception, Book 2 of the Wicked Lords f London series, was about Lady Eleanor "Ellie" McIntyre, daughter of the late Lord Ashford, and His Grace (NOT Lord!) Matthew Evans, the Duke of Pennington, was a man afraid to love again. Matt had been searching for his missing sister for some time first saw Ellie serving drinks in a tavern. Three ales in and looking for a fourth, he watched as the beauty was accosted by another customer. Realizing she was no ordinary bar wench, he stepped in and rescued her. As he talked with her, he learned she might just be the one to help him find his sister, so he made a deal with her. Since she had lost her position as a bar made as a result of his actions, he would help her find another job if she would aid him in finding his sister. Ellie, having lost her scoundrel of a father several months before, found herself in London with no home, no money, and no food. Being a barmaid had been her only means of support, but now even that was gone. Having no alternative but to accept Matt's offer, she agrees to the bargain. Matt, having been hurt in a previous relationship, found it hard to trust anyone else, so he didn't tell Ellie that he was a Duke. He didn't want her sticking around in order to move up in society because of his title. He just didn't trust Ellie's goodness. Ellie wasn't interested in Matt's title, but just the man. However, she thought so little of herself that she didn't believe she was worthy of his attention, let alone his love. All she wanted was a way to earn money to keep herself fed, clothed, and housed. Even though some of Matt's friends wanted to assist her in finding a husband, Ellie was already in love with Matt and didn't want anyone else...even though she believed there was no way she'd ever make a match with him. There was a noticeable chemistry between Matt and Ellie that was endearing. The drama and angst were apparent too, but not as strong. A touch of humor dotted the story in all the right places. While it wasn't as good as the first two books in the series (if you include the Earl of Sussex from the Wicked Earls' Club series that was considered the prequel to this series), it still earned a five-star rating and should be allowed amongst the Keeper for the Shelves collection.
