JARED: If I had a dollar for every time Banner Morales made my heart skip a beat…
The heart everyone assumes is frozen over.
Her anger is…arousing.
Every glare from those fire-spitting eyes, every time she grits her teeth, gets me…well, you know.
If I had a dollar for every time she’s put me in my place, I’d be an even richer man.
I’m a successful sports agent because I assume “no” means you’ll think about it.
I’m sure what you meant to say is “Coming right up.”
They say even rich men don’t always get what they want, but those men don’t know how to play the game. The trick is to keep them guessing.
Take Banner. She assumes she’s winning, but this game?
She doesn’t even know how to play.

BANNER: If I had a dollar for every time Jared Foster broke my heart, I’d have exactly one dollar.
One night. One epic fail. One dollar…and I’m out.
I’ve moved on.
I’ve found success in a field ruled by men.
Anything they can do, I have done better.
They can keep the field while I call the shots, blocking them when I have to.
And Jared has the nerve to think he gets a second chance?
Boy, please. Go sit down. Have several seats.
I’ll just be over here ignoring the man carved from my fantasies with a lust-tipped chisel.
Oh, I didn’t say the struggle wasn’t real.
But I’ve got that one dollar, and Jared won’t have me.

I wanted to like this, but Banner got on my nerve alot. She cheats on her bf, who she says she has been best friends with for 10 years before they started dating. At one point she says she didn't love him the same way. As for Jared, he didn't seem to care about the guilt she felt cause all he wanted was to be with her. Her ex gets a terrible health diagnosis so she goes to stay with him to help him and he says he wants her back. And of course Jarod gets mad cause their relationship is put on hold. I can't help but question doesn't he have family to help him. I don't understand why she didn't just tell her ex she doesn't love him but only as a friend. I felt bad for him. I DNF this book. Made it 73% way thru it and said enough. I couldn't like Banner at all, her cheating, abrasiveness was too much.

Words cannot explain how much I detest this book, but they'll have to do. Let's list all the things wrong with this book.

    1. The characters are the worst people on this earth.

First we have the male lead Jared; he is GROSS. A slimeball 🤢 with absolutely no class; he essentially pressures the spineless female lead Banner(I'll deal with her later) into cheating on her boyfriend. (I'm sorry for this spoiler but you need to know that this book contains cheating.) The writer absolutely missed the mark when creating this character, he has zero to none redeeming qualities and is not likeable AT ALL. All this man thinks about is s*x, like can he be any more stereotypical. This character is the guy that you meet, kinda like then realise he's a douche and run the other way.

Of course there's Banner; in the beginning I found her somewhat tolerable even though she was constantly whining about her weight and how she's not 'petite enough' 🙄 like girl come off it. She then proceeds to get into a relationship with a man worthy of a queen and then cheats on him, then cries about it and then cheats on him again. Like all she had to do was call up her boyfriend break up with him and move on. NOT THAT HARD FOLKS.

    1. There's cheating involved; the minute a character cheats all sympathy is lost for them (unless they were in an abusive/toxic relationship) but other than that theres no excuse. So when that happened it immediately sours your view of the character and you start to root against them. She acted like she was possessed and couldn't stop cheating, like you should have enough self control and respect for your relationship to say no.

    2. To much sx; they were literally always banging!😂 I absolutely hate when theres like 10 sx scenes in a book (unless it's 50 shades 😏) but other than that it just ruins it for me. I want to see the cute intimate moments, them fall in love but nope it was straight up p*rn.

    3. The relationship is toxic; I could go as far to say that Jared is actually abusive; he goes through her phone when she says no, at one point Banner says no to sex and it takes another no for him to stop (and she thanks him?!?!?), when her best friend is literally dying they are still making out. Like sooooo many red flags it's ridiculous .

    4. Story development was wack; the book starts of with them banging (shock 🙄) and then they don't see each other for years and reunite and start banging again. For me I hate when characters already like each because then the story doesn't really progress. The relationship does not develop. They stopped talking because of a misunderstanding so it's just so anticlimactic. 📉

I've read two other Kennedy Ryan books, each of them worst than the last and this is the final straw. I cannot put myself through this so she's blacklisted.

    End rant.

This books contains a badass woman sports agent, who can speak so many languages and then she does something that doesn't show her in good light, but then somewhat redeems herself. Many twists and turns, quick wit and sexy times🙃
