All this wounded marquess wants is solitude. Instead, he stumbles across a wallflower…literally.

It wasn’t as though Marigold was hiding, she was just…lying low. In an abandon shed. Admidst a houseparty where both her best friends had managed to become engaged.

In a few days she can escape to her quiet life a solitude and books. Alone. Forever. But then the prodigal son returns to the manor and charges into her life with the military precision one might expect from a war hero. Even more terrifying, he refuses to ignore her like the rest of society. Of course, he doesn’t.

The irritating man seems to have made it his life’s mission to drag her out of the shadows and into the light. And while she has wish to be seen by the rest of them, his attention is starting to feel…nice. Better than that, even.

But he’s a marquess and a war hero. His interest is purely an act of kindness. Nothing more.
Unfortunately, her heart refuses to listen to reason. Which means…it’s bound to be broken.

A Marquess for Miss Marigold, Book 3 of A Wallflower's Wish series, was about Miss Mary "Marigold" Clearwater (there might be a bit of confusion with Mary's name as in Book 1 she was called Mary Gladwell, but the author definitely called her Clearwater throughout this book) and Lord Maximus "Max" Langston, the new Marquess of Arundel, son of the Dowager Marchioness of Arundel and a war hero. Returning from the war, injured, and realizing he needed to take his place as the new Marquess due to the death of his father, Max wasn't expecting to find a house party in full procession. He hadn't thought that his mother (Note that the author erroneously addressed his mother as the Marchioness when, in fact, she should be addressed as the Dowager Marchioness since the son was now the Marquess and the father was dead) would use his return as an excuse to hold the house party in order to assist him in finding a bride...at least not so soon. Trying to escape the young ladies in attendance, Max fled the house to find a place to rest. Heading to an abandoned garden shed, he hoped he could find some peace and rest...until he tripped over what turned out to be a girl...or young lady. Fascinated by her, he couldn't wait to meet up with her again at some point during the party. Marigold, being a shy, timid wallflower, did not enjoy being at the house party. While two of her friends were also in attendance, they each had found their future husbands, leaving Marigold to quietly envy them and wishing she, too, could find love. Not realizing the gentleman who had tripped over her earlier in the day was the war hero turned Marquess, lord of the house at which she was staying, she was eager to reconnect with him later in the evening. Surprise filled her when the new Marquess made his way towards her and asked for a dance. She realized he seemed familiar and when she questioned him, he revealed the prior meeting. This story was well-written, even with some of the misspelled words and the wrongful title addressing. It had all the angst and drama normal for such stories, with an antagonist who couldn't help but rub people the wrong way. There was a bit of chemistry between the two main characters, but there wasn't much passion. As with the first two books, this wasn't what one would call a "steamy" romance novel. However, it was definitely sweetly written. The humor was better in this story than in the first two. Another good book that earned a five-star rating and the right to be added to the Keeper for the Shelves collection.
