GIA ARA

The story was disappointing. .the heroine had a truly selfish personality. Her father, the earl had actually stolen the title from the Hero's father, who was the legitimate earl. Consequently, the hero spent his childhood as a 'bastard;, and subject to taunts and slurs. He also grew up in relative poverty. Naturally he wanted to steal back the certificate from the fake earl as he was sick. The present earl made it a condition that he would give back the proof of the H's legitimacy only if he agreed to marry one of his daughters! The heroine didnt know this of course, but she spends most of the time being demanding and boorish, around the hero. ALso, once she knows the truth, instead of supporting the hero or at least understanding his feelings, she still doesn't want her fathers evil deeds to come to light, and expects the hero to hide his true status in society. The hero , to prove his love for this selfish brat, in the end, not only gives her the certificate, but also his property and his thriving business! Lame! Never came across such a selfish heroine in any of Jeffries' previous books.
